Wendy Williams held the radio crown for much of the '90s and early 2000s-- and she isn't afraid to brag about it.

In the premiere episode of "BEING," the famed shock jock turned talk show host reflects on her time at the mic as she spilled the tea on America's biggest celebrities and built her brand of straightforward commentary.

"I wasn’t just a radio disc jockey—I ran New York. I ran a lot of the competition disc jockeys out of this town and I was a girl doing it," she explains. "I was setting things up for who I am today, I didn’t know that at the time, but I was setting things up. And I was winning in a male-dominated field. Winning."

Williams says she won over her audience by directly speaking to listeners about salacious celebrity gossip, at the expense of said celebrities. Despite her growing number of industry enemies and death threats, no one could deny her ratings and genuine interest in her craft.

"My style of radio is not manufactured; it’s merely an extension of my personality. I’ve been reading the tabloids since I was a child," she recalls. "I’ve always wanted to know the tea about the stars since as long as I can remember."

"The problem is that, in radio, they wanted to squeeze in those twelve songs per hour. It wasn’t until my program director at the time, Vinny Brown, trusted me enough to not just play this new jam by this new girl Mary J. Blige, but to talk to the audience about what I saw going on in the club last night when I went to see Mary J. Blige perform. Everybody was there. So I had information along with playing the music."

Williams talks more about her journey to success, weight issues, personal struggles and more when "BEING" premieres Saturday, Feb. 15 at 9 p.m. EST on Centric.
