James Bland is recognized as an emerging filmmaker/actor with great promise, integrity of purpose andBorn and raised in Titusville, Florida, James grew up writing poetry and producing original plays for his church. His creative talent and sense of purpose was sharpened while a student at Florida A&M University where he was heavily involved in social activism, student politics and film production.
Through out his college matriculation, James worked as an actor, writer and producer on an edgy, student produced, and often controversial television drama series that dealt with heavy college-specific social issues. He later went on to write and direct his fist feature film, Dreaming in Color, during the last semester of his senior year.
Upon graduating from Florida A&M with a degree in Business Administration, James made the leap of faith to Los Angeles to further his career ambitions. His first major production opportunity came as an intern to producer Will Packer (Obsessed, This Christmas, Stomp the Yard) on the Sony Screen Gems film Takers.
Subsequently, James continues to works for Screen Gems while actively creating his own film projects. His next film is a documentary that follows a group of doctors on a medical mission in the Kingdom of Swaziland -- a small country in southern Africa that has the highest prevalence rate of HIV/AIDS in the world.
