  • Quite possibly one of the slickest duos in contemporary R&B history, Zhane was a hit when they released their 1994 debut album Pronounced Jah-Nay. After releasing a string of hits, and a sophomore album, Saturday Night, in 1997; the ladies disbanded. The cause? Apparently in-fighting. Hopefully, they can put the differences aside for a reunion album?
  • Three dark-skinned beauties looking fly and singing in a video, seems like a rarity these days, but it once was a reality thanks to Black Girl. The trio found minor success in 1994 with their hit “90s Girl” which served as one of the early girl power songs. While their debut album, Treat U Right, failed to make major impact, they still have maintained a cult following of fans.
  • When this Atlanta based singing group stepped out on the scene in 1993, they were street, yet sweet (remember their first performance on BET’s Teen Summit?). In five years, the ladies released three platinum albums, and seven top ten Billboard R&B hits. So where are they now? Kandi Burruss is off being a real housewife, Tameka "Tiny" Cottle is busy with her pretty hustle (read: her marriage to rapper T.I.), Tamika Scott is making major money thanks to Tyler Perry, and Latocha is working on a new album.
  • New York natives Cassandra Lucas and Charisse Rose went from being background singers for popular 80s singer Sybil, to becoming R&B stars in their own right. After their demo landed in the hands of an executive at Big Beat Records, the girls were signed and released their self-titled debut that featured the R. Kelly penned and produced “Stroke U Up,” and “Foolin’ Around.” Their third album, Visit Me, released in 2000, marked the ladies last release.
  • While this group went through constant line-up changes, if Nicci Gilbert and Maxee Maxwell are involved, we have Brownstone. The Grammy Award nominated group landed their first big hit with 1994’s “If You Love Me,” which helped their debut album, ‘From The Bottom Up’ go platinum. The ladies 1997 follow-up album failed to reach the success of their first, but it did produce the Billboard R&B hit "5 Miles to Empty."
  • When you think about Bad Boy Records in the 90s, Kima, Keisha and Pam should instantly come to mind. Under the tutelage of Diddy (known then as Puff Daddy), the trio released two successful albums. But they officially disbanded in 1999, and there have been no signs of a future reunion. Could this be the infamous Bad Boy curse at work?
  • When 702 broke up in 2003, following the release of their third album, Star, fans were left confused as to what happened. Granted Meelah Williams left the group before in 2001, but when she returned in 2003---reuniting with Irish and Misha Grinstead---all seemed good. Well apparently things weren't. After two gold albums, and a slew of hits, the girls couldn’t “Get It Together.”
  • Probably one of the most underrated girl groups of all time, En Vogue---Cindy Herron, Maxine Jones, Dawn Robinson and Terry Ellis---created music that was full of funk and tight harmonies. Assembled by music producers Denzil Foster and Thomas McElroy, the ladies landed eleven Billboard Top 20 hits, including “Hold On,” “Lies,” “My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It)” and “Don't Let Go (Love)”---all number one records.
  • Everyone loves DC3, but the original line-up of Destiny’s Child is long overdue for a reunion (sorry Michelle). First introduced to music listeners with 1997’s “No,No,No,” Beyonce, Kelly, LeToya and LaTavia were sassy, young and fresh. As the original line-up the ladies released two successful albums and a slew of hit singles before things turned sour. It could be cool to see all of the members who have been in the group go on tour and record an album. It worked for The Temptations in 1982.
  • While the Jade’s life span was short lived, this early 90s girl group was successful until the end. Known for their string of hit singles, including 1992’s “Don’t Walk Away.” The group officially disbanded shortly after the release of their sophomore album, Mind Body, & Song in 1994.
