  • Kiki Shepard - You can’t talk about Apollo without mentioning the legendary KiKi Sheppard. This fly girl’s fierce stage presence and fashion sense were as signature to the competition reality show as its honest audience (1987 – 2002).
  • Rick Aviles - Stand up comedian Rick Aviles, widely remembered for his role as Willie Lopez in the classic film Ghost, hosted the talent competition show (1987 to 1991).
  • Christopher "Kid" Reid - Christopher ‘Kid Coolout’ Reid began hosting Apollo in 1989 – mere months before accepting the role as Christopher Robinson Jr. in the cult classic film, House Party (1989 – 2002).
  • Sinbad - Did you know: Everyone’s favorite Different World coach and Gilbert Hall dorm director started his comedic career in 1981 while serving in the U.S. Air Force as a boom operator (1989 – 1991 & 2005).
  • Mark Curry - Before we were Hanging With Mr.Cooper, we were enjoying this Apollo host’s affable personality from 1992-1993.
  • Steve Harvey - This King Of Comedy needs no introduction. Harvey’s candid comedic style raised the bar for contestants daring to entertain the crowd with their own material. But Steve always kept the moral support strong (1993 – 2000).
  • Rudy Rush - Comedian Rudy Rush dominated the Apollo stage as the youngest host ever of the talent competition series (2000-2002).
  • Mo'Nique - Mo’Nique was the first female to grab the host mic on the iconic Apollo stage. The Oscar-winning comedian’s large and in charge attitude kept contestants on their toes and audience members in stitches! (2002-2006)
  • Whoopi Goldberg - Whoopi Goldberg's legendary role in the 1985 film'The Color Purple, and subsequent roles in 1990’s Ghost and 1992’s Sister Act, transformed the comedian-turned-talk show host into a Hollywood gem. So when the Apollo needed a hilarious host for their 2006-2007 season, choosing Goldberg was as a no brainer.
  • Anthony Anderson - This lovable comedian ushered in loads of laughs in his countless Hollywood hits, including Romeo Must Die, Two Can Play That Game and Barbershop. Anderson’s laid-back persona always helped to keep the good vibes rolling (2006-2007).
  • Tony Rock - Tony Rock carved his own lucrative lane in comedy by not only starring in hit shows All Of Us and Everybody Hates Chris, but by also writing and producing material for Russell Simmons’ Def Comedy Jam, The Chris Rock Show and the Tony Rock Project. We can’t wait to see what he’s got lined up for APOLLO LIVE (2012).
