The San Francisco 49ers can't catch a break with now two star players making headlines for alleged illegal activity.
Linebacker Aldon Smith was arrested on Sunday for allegedly yelling “bomb” in the LAX airport.
USA Today reports the NFL player was uncooperative with TSA agents after being randomly selected for secondary screening. According to cops, Smith “became belligerent and uncooperative with the process and with the TSA agent making a comment indicating that he was in possession of a bomb before proceeding toward the gate area."
Law enforcement tells media Smith appeared to be drunk at the time of the incident.
In the video of Smith being handcuffed, the star athlete says, “I’ve done nothing wrong.” He repeatedly says, “Record all this s--t. Get my face. Officers too.”
It’s clear he thinks he’s being wrongfully arrested. He tells the cops, “You’re embarrassing.”
He was transported to a nearby LAPD station to be booked.
The 49ers General Manager issued a statement saying, “We are disappointed to learn of the incident today involving Aldon Smith. As this is a pending legal matter and we are still gathering the pertinent facts, we will have no further comment.”
He was released after posting $20,000 bail. If convicted, he could serve up to a year in prison.
Smith's arrest follows 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick's sexual assault investigation in Florida.
