If the tech giant has its way, pedestrians will be glued to their phones without having to see where they’re going

While it may not be as deadly as texting while driving, walking and texting at the same time can be dangerous nonetheless. If Apple has its way, it will give iPhones the technological advance of allowing users to text and walk at the time more safely.

The tech giant filed a patent for “transparent texting” that is expected to make it easier walk the streets without walking into something or getting struck by a car, according to the New York Post.

The visibility technology would replace the background of text message with live video feed of a user’s surroundings. Several studies suggest that walking while texting is even more difficult and distracting than texting while driving.

“A user who is walking while participating in a text messaging session may inadvertently collide with or stumble over objects in his path because his attention was focused on his device’s display instead of the path that he was traversing,” according to the patent filing.

Sounds like a cool idea to us.
