The "Apprentice" star hopes to help children living in poverty

For the sake of the children, we can only hope this is a clean race.

Former "Apprentice" star Omarosa Manigault is throwing her hat in the ring to become a member of the Board of Education for the Los Angeles Unified School District. TMZ reports the television personality is dedicated to helping kids out of poverty and making them safe.

Her credentials include the title of Educational Director for the L.A. Clippers Youth Camp, a certification as an LAUSD teacher and her tireless work at an L.A. mission assisting women and children.

It remains to be seen how her onscreen persona will affect voters as she's often seen as a conniving, "angry Black woman."

The election will be held June 3.
