As we count down the hours until President Barack Obama takes the podium for his 2014 State of the Union Address, it has been revealed that Jason Collins is among those sitting with Michelle Obama during Tuesday's speech.
The professional basketball player made headlines last year for publically announcing that he's gay, a first for major team sports. His choice to come out was met with support from the general public, including that of the POTUS who said "he couldn't be prouder."
Michelle and Collins previously headlined the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Leadership Council gala event back in May 2013.
The pair will also be joined by two survivors of the Boston Marathon bombing, Carlos Arredondo and Jeff Bauman; fire chief Gary Bird from Moore, Okla., which was hit by a tornado last year; 16-year-old entrepreneur and intern Joey Hudy; and Kathy Hollowell-Makle, who was named D.C.'s Public Schools' Teacher of the Year.
The White House will announce more guests prior to the president's address.
