Aretha Franklin, Berry Gordy To Be Honored At BET Honors

Recipients will be recognized for their outstanding accomplishments in their respective fields

The stage is being set to celebrate another crop of outstanding stars who excel in the fields of music, literature, entertainment, media, service and education at the 2014 BET Honors.

On Thursday, the network announced that Aretha Franklin (Musical Arts Award), Berry Gordy (Entrepreneur Award), Ice Cube (Entertainer Award), American Express CEO Ken Chenault (Corporate Citizen Award) and photographer/video artist Carrie Mae Weems (Visual Arts Award) will be recognized at this year's event.

Past honorees include Cicely Tyson, Whitney Houston, Jamie Foxx, Queen Latifah, Sean "Diddy" Combs, Earvin "Magic" Johnson, Iman and others.

Performers at this year's event will be announced at a later date.

The 2014 BET Honors, hosted by Wayne Brady, will take place Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C. The show will air Monday, Feb. 24 at 9 p.m. ET.
