Media extraordinaire Oprah Winfrey is set to receive The Hollywood Reporter's Sherry Lansing Leadership Award this December as a pioneer and leader in her industry. The honor will be presented by journalist and activist Maria Shriver at the media brand's 22nd annual Women in Entertainment Breakfast.
THR's editorial director Janice Min notes, "Oprah is an inspiration to us all. She has wielded her tremendous influence to empower women both here in Hollywood and around the world, and motivated countless individuals to contribute to causes that better their communities. She is the embodiment of this award."
Sherry Lansing added, "When I learned that Oprah had agreed to accept the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award, I was both thrilled and humbled. No one exemplifies leadership and professional distinction more than Oprah. [...] The Hollywood Reporter could not have chosen to honor a more deserving individual than Oprah."
Winfrey will be recognized for her many accomplishments over the span of her storied career that include the conquering of television, print, film and beyond. The award will coincide with THR's annual Top 100 Most Powerful Women in Entertainment list, in which she's been placed on several times.
Past recipients include Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Helen Mirren, Meryl Streep, Halle Berry, Jodie Foster, Glenn Close and Barbara Walters.
The event takes place Dec. 11 at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles.
Congratulations to Oprah!
