All work and no play would make for a very dull First Lady.
Michelle Obama and her daughters Malia and Sasha spent the weekend in New York City as she promoted her "Let's Move" campaign and enjoyed a night on the town in Manhattan.
On Saturday morning, she made her an appearance with tennis champ Serena Williams during Arthur Ashe Kids' Day at the U.S. Open in which she endorsed a USTA initiative to install 5,000 new kid-sized tennis courts across the country. Michelle jokingly encouraged her daughters to get involved in the sport early, so they don't struggle like she does as an adult.
The program will also aim to train 15,000 new coaches, trainers and teachers over a three-year period beginning in 2014.
Michelle and the girls then made their way to an evening performance of The Trip to Bountiful where they quietly took their seats before the first act. The First Family were reportedly met with a standing ovation as they returned for the second act.
Following the show, the family met with cast members Cicely Tyson, Vanessa Williams and Cuba Gooding Jr.
