Kendrick Lamar is certainly in control.

The West coast rapper leads all nominees for the 2013 Soul Train Awards with six nods in categories such as Best New Artist, Song of the Year, Best Collaboration and the coveted Album of the Year.

Over the past year, Lamar has had an outstanding run following the release of his debut album good kid, m.A.A.d city-- undoubtedly placing him at the table with hip-hop heavyweights.

Miguel, Justin Timberlake, Robin Thicke, Chris Brown and the lone lady Tamar Braxton follow behind Lamar with five nominations apiece spanning the categories of The Ashford and Simpson Songwriter’s Award, Best Collaboration, Best Dance Performance and more.

Anthony Anderson will serve as this year's host as the 2013 Soul Train Music Awards head back to Las Vegas on Nov. 8. The show will air Dec. 1 at 8 p.m. EST on Centric and BET.
