Sex is a beautiful thing. But it can also be harmful, at least according to a new study revealing the most dangerous sexual position.
While popular positions like doggy style are believed to venture more on the wild side, at least for women, a team of Canadian researchers determined that the “cowgirl”--also known as “woman on top”--harbors the most physical harm for your man: penile fractures.
A penile fracture is a rupture caused by force blunt to an erect penis, usually caused by vaginal intercourse or aggressive masturbation.
But that doesn’t mean doggy style is off the hook. The research also revealed that the men’s favorite position, with women on all fours, is behind 29 percent of afflictions, reports the Telegraph. The traditional "man on top,” or missionary, is responsible for 21 percent.
"Our hypothesis is that when woman is on top she usually controls the movement with her entire body weight landing on the erect penis, not being able to interrupt it when the penis suffers a wrong way penetration, because the harm is usually minor in women with no pain but major in the penis,” the study concludes. "On the contrary, when the man is controlling the movement, he has better chances of stopping the penetration energy in response to the pain related to the penis harm, minimizing it."
And just so you’re aware ladies, your male lover may also put himself in greater risk, as many men, the study authors point out, will delay in their search for medical assistance out of fear and embarrassment. Not seeking medical attention can lead to impairment of sexual and voiding functions. Usually a crack sound can be heard in the event of a penile fracture.
To be on the safe side, engage in sexual positions with care and caution. You can have a fulfilling and adventurous sex life, just keep in mind that your man, and his penis, is not made of steel.
