Celebrity chef Gina Neely wants one thing to be clear about her pending divorce from Pat Neely: She’s not going to sit around and “cry in a bowl of milk.”
When the celebrity chefs announced their divorce after 23 years of marriage the Internet was ablaze with fans who were shocked. All seemed well on the couple’s show “Down Home with the Neelys,” but the two had been having problems for years.
On Monday, Gina paid a visit to The Wendy Williams Show” to discuss her divorce and weight loss.
“Life happens, honey. What are you going to do? Cry in a bowl of milk?" the 49-year-old chef said. "At the end of the day, Pat and I are real people. Life happens. I had dinner with Pat on Friday. We’re still good friends, but it just happened. You don’t stop living because bad things happen. You keep going.”
But the pair didn’t give up on their marriage without a fight. Two years ago, Gina said she moved out of their Memphis home with the hope that distance would help fix things.
“We were trying to work on it and do some things differently, but it ended up that way," she told Williams. "I did family counseling, wanted everyone to be good. We’re all in a good place and at the end of the day, that’s what’s important to me.”
Gina’s now down to a size zero after losing 25 pounds. In the future, she said she is open to doing her own cooking show. As far as her joint projects with her husband, let's just say she knows how to separate personal from business.
“Business is business. Let’s be clear about that!” she said.
