According To Him + Her: The Case Of The Profile Picture

How often should you change your profile picture on social media and dating sites?

They say you only get one chance to make a first impression and nothing proves that more than a good (or bad) profile picture. In this day and age, whether we like it or not, we're judged by a singular photograph that welcomes the outside world into our personal lives.

On a brand new episode of "According To Him + Her," show hosts Finesse Mitchell and Claudia Jordan declare Rule 215: "Your profile picture must be a shot that was taken within the last 60 days." While the directive might seem like it's rooted in narcissism, it actually isn't such a bad idea-- especially if you're looking to hook a potential mate.

Switching up you profile picture every two to four months can provide a refreshing and honest portrait of where you're at in life. Whether you lost or gained weight, have a new hair 'do, picked up a hobby or are simply entering into a different season, it makes sense to update your social media image as you would your status.

It's a bit misleading to upload a photo of yourself from years past when you were 40 pounds lighter and living in a different state. Instead, opt for an image that generally reflects the here and now (ideally taken in the last few months).

Call it trivial or vain, but that's simply the world we live in now.
