Singer and actress Teyana Taylor is letting it be known that she’s done with former friend Tae Heckard for dating her ex-fiancé, baller Brandon Jennings.
In an interview with The Breakfast Club, Taylor, 23, said that she would never again be friends with her former gal pal because of the obvious betrayal. And while Taylor had been broken up with Jennings for a few years, she made it clear that Heckard, who she had been friends with since 17, is still in the wrong.
“I don’t care if we would’ve been broken up for eight [years], that ain’t her place. How can we ever be friends if you’re engaged to my ex-fiancé?” Taylor said. “I’m not going to that wedding. It’s no longer a friendship.”
There’s no doubt that Taylor and company’s situation is a messy one. Everyone knows that dating a friend’s ex is an ultimate girl code violation. But it’s an even greater sting when said ex is your fiancé.
But is there ever a pass for a friend to get with your ex?
Most would say never, but there are a selected few who do not have a problem with friends dating exes as long as they’ve received their blessing. There are certainly instances where some will even orchestrate for their friend to get with their former beau. Still, when it comes to a fiancé, someone you loved and, in Teyana’s case, lost your virginity to, seeing him or her run off into the sunset with your friend can be a sickening sight. Just imagine the awkwardness that would always exist should you continue to be friends in the future.
Without a doubt, friends do not date friend’s exes, and they surely do not do it behind your back. Only a selfish and desperate person would go after their friend's left overs. If someone's that pressed for a companion, maybe there's an issue that needs to be addressed within. But sadly, there are plenty of people out there who do not respect the rules of friendship and would do anything to have a man or woman of their own...even if it's at the expense of their own friend's feelings. Nonetheless, we all know what they say about karma...
