The R&B diva admits bringing another woman in the bedroom led to divorce

The morality debate on threesomes is neverending. While the religious and conservatives frown at the idea of bringing a third person into the bedroom, other couples champion it as a way to keep the “spice” alive in a relationship or marriage.

In an interview with The Breakfast Club, the ever-so-candid Lil’ Mo admitted she allowed threesomes in her marriage at the request of now ex-husband Phillip Bryant, but that it eventually led to the beginning of the end.

“One time we were having a threesome and I’m like 'I think he really rock with this broad,'” the singer recalled, suggesting her husband may have been sleeping with the woman before bringing her in for a threesome.

“When you get a new [partner] it feels a certain type of way. When you don’t move that means it’s convenient…you had it before,” she said.

The threesome backlash and alleged cheating, the singer says, led to her own infidelity and eventually their separation and divorce. Mo is now dating boxer Karl Dargen, also known as Dynamite, who she says she won’t be having threesomes with.

I’m not doing that no more,” she said adamantly.

While a ménage à trois was a disaster for Lil’ Mo, is a threesome ever healthy for a relationship or marriage?

Morals aside, it makes perfect sense why many would be pro-threesome. More liberal and open-minded people often argue that as naturally sexual beings, monogamy just doesn’t work. They maintain that the only way for a happy marriage is to allow yourself and your partner the freedom to either step outside of the marriage (for sex only) or invite another person into the bedroom. But then there are the traditionalists who argue that nothing good comes from it; that inviting a threesome only makes for a terrible mess you won’t be able to clean up.

How you run your relationship or your marriage is totally incumbent upon you and your partner. However, one can’t deny the complications that come with adding another body into the mix.

While the media is not to blame per say, it has certainly romanticized threesomes in film and television. But as they say, the grass isn’t always green on the other side. As Lil’ Mo learned, three isn’t always the greatest company in the bedroom, and maybe it should simply be left to two.

What do you think? Are threesomes healthy for relationships?
