Despite numerous headlines surrounding Dwyane Wade's "break baby," Gabrielle Union is keeping her attention focused on maintaining a healthy family at home.
The actress paid a visit to "The Queen Latifah Show" on Monday to detail her experience as a real-life "instant mom," taking on the task of raising Wade's two sons and nephew.
"It's been a journey to boogers," Union joked. "To boogers and flash cards and first heartbreaks and school dances and math homework. We got this amazing gift at a second chance. He just asked me to commit to trying, to put our family back together, to make our family whole."
She continued, "The trying to do the work, led to doing the work, led to us thriving because of the work, which led to this amazing proposal where my family literally asked me to marry them. When life gives you a new beginning, you take it and run with it."
Union and Wade were engaged just before Christmas when he presented her with a custom 8.5 carat cushion cut ring. The couple are looking forward to a September wedding.
