Very generous benefactors are playing ‘Santa’ around the country

The holiday spirit is alive and well around the country, as pockets of secret Santas are generously giving large sums of money to those who are less fortunate.

One mystery man has been giving very sizable tips - one has much as $10,000 - to waiters from coast to coast. More interestingly, the anonymous donor stamps each bill with the Twitter and Instagram handle, @tipsforjesus, where the secret Santa shares photos he snaps of the waiters with their tips. His Instagram’s tagline reads, "Doing the Lord's work, one tip at a time."  All of the generous donations are charged to American Express.

Scenarios like @tipsforjesus are sprouting around the country, with many anonymous, wealthy benefactors filling up the hearts of those in need. One secret Santa in Texas paid an entire layaway list in Walmart worth $2,000, and in Florida one secret Santa dropped a diamond ring worth $3,500 inside a Salvation Army bucket wrapped in a note that read, “Please continue your good work caring for the needy in God’s name."

It seems like the spirit of holiday cheer is contagious this season. It’s always good to know there’s some good left in the world.

Does this inspire you to spread some holiday cheer of your own?
