Let’s face it. Getting the perfect bod takes hard work and dedication, even if you’re a celebrity. Whether you’re trying to lose your post-pregnancy weight, rid yourself of those annoying love handles or simply trying to tone up, staying fit is a lifestyle that very few are able to keep up with it. Luckily for us, there were many celebs this year whose body transformations inspired us to get up off our couch and hit the gym. Sometimes all we need is a little motivation. Check out the most dramatic and eye-dropping body transformations of 2013.
Though we fell in love with Ruben Studdard as the soulful Velvet Teddy Bear, Studdard is determined to slim down and get his sexy on. Nonetheless, Studdard is having the best year ever with a whopping 112 pounds lost from his previous weight of 462. Go Ruben!
Mary J. Blige
Mary J. Blige turned heads when she landed on the cover of Shape Magazine showing off her rock solid abs. Blige, 42, dished on her strict diet and commitment to staying fit. The Queen of hip-hop and R&B said she does a lot of running and strength training exercises like swimming. 42 never looked so good.
Tia & Tamera Mowry
It seems the Mowry twins always do things in double. Not only did both Tia and Tamera become new moms over the past two years, but they also successfully lost their baby weight and are looking better than ever. Tia credits her weight loss to her vegan diet, while Tamera says portion control and a lot of working out did the trick.
Over the last couple of years, Jennifer Hudson has become the poster child for weight loss. The former plus-size powerhouse singer has not only lost over 80 pounds after giving birth to her son in 2009, but has slimmed down even more in 2013. Hudson has certainly lived up to her title as spokes model for Weight Watchers.
The R&B crooner has always been a sex symbol, but when undertook his role as Sugar Ray Leonard in an upcoming biopic, Mr. Raymond stepped his game up big time. Usher says he lost 30 pounds by biking everyday for 20 miles and boxing, toning up his already fit bod and is now looking quite muscular.
The more curvy Braxton sister, Traci, dropped a few pounds after her siblings gave her an intervention when they thought she was gaining too much weight. She also revealed that her poor health and weight gain caused her to develop diabetes and high blood pressure. Now Traci is looking better than ever.
Though Christina Aguilera was still a bombshell with her more voluptuous frame, the singer is looking like the vintage Christina from her earlier days in the ‘90s. Aguilera, 32, lost nearly 50 pounds, crediting it to yoga and incorporating a lot of fun cardio workouts like going paintballing. She proves that things only get better with time.
Tamar Braxton, too, had lost a ton of baby weight after giving birth to her son, Vincent Logan Herbert, this summer. Unlike most new moms, Tamar didn’t have a lot of time before hitting the touring circuit to promote her new album and shooting the pilot for her new talk show. The best part is that the youngest Braxton sister and Soul Train Awards winner did it all in style.
Though she’s been a little under the radar as of late, comedian and actress Monique has made major progress in her body transformation. In an interview this year, Monique said she’s lost nearly 100 pounds with a goal losing about 30 more. “I tweet my workouts every morning because I want women to see, you don't have to let them cut you open. You don't have to let them suck it out. You don't have to let them put a band around your organs. All you have to do is put the work in,” she said.
