Everyone wants to look like a star. Just ask journalist Rebecca Harrington, who recently revealed that she lost ten pounds in 10 days after undergoing the “Beyoncé diet,” which includes two diets the curvy singer said were effective in getting her in shape for her 2006 film, Dreamgirls, and losing the 57 pounds she gained during her pregnancy in 2011.
Celebrities are tasked with the sometimes unrealistic responsibility of looking at their best at all times, and are often emulated for it. Whether you want to look like Beyoncé or Brandy, it’s important to figure out what diet is healthy for you and your body type. Everyone isn’t meant to be a size zero. However, there are many in-shape celebrities whose diets are not only effective, but easy to do yourself.
Here are a few celebrity diets that will have you feeling good and looking magazine-cover ready.
The Beyoncé Diet - In preparation for her leading role as Deena Jones in Dreamgirls, Beyoncé tackled The Master Cleanse diet, also known as the “Lemonade Diet,” an all-liquid diet that consists of fasting from solid foods and drinking a lemonade concoction six or more times a day. The drink ingredients include freshly-squeezed lemon, organic maple syrup, cayenne pepper and filtered water. It is said that you can do the diet anywhere from 4-14 days. It’s recommended that after completing the diet that you slowly transitioned back to eating solid foods. However, some health professionals question whether the Master Cleanse is healthy.
If that diet isn’t your fancy, you can also try Bey’s post-pregnancy diet. The Grammy-award singer says she took on a low-calorie diet, in which she eliminated red meat, pasta and rice and replaced it with fish, vegetables and quinoa. For breakfast, she says she ate scrambled egg whites, a vegetable smoothie and whole-wheat cereal with low-fat milk. The singer does allow one cheat day where she indulges herself with pizza and wine.
The Brandy Diet - Since overcoming an eating disorder in her teens, singer Brandy has lived a life of veganhood. The former Moesha star has been a vegetarian for years and has also tried being a vegan from time to time. Vegan diets generally consists of no meat or dairy products. Instead, you would eat soy products, beans and nuts, organic fruits and veggies, whole-wheat and whole-grain products and potatoes. However, if you’re a meat eater, it’s highly recommended that you don’t cut it out of your diet cold turkey. Instead, gradually transition into the vegan or vegetarian diet.
The Jennifer Hudson Diet - Jennifer Hudson’s weight loss is one of the most dramatic weight losses in Hollywood history. The Oscar-winning actress and singer, who is the face of Weight Watchers, has followed a strict diet discipline that is based on a calorie point system known as PointsPlus allowances. Hudson revealed that one of her favorite tricks to keeping the weight off is eating fruit bowls and makes homemade pizza with veggie toppings.
The Kelly Rowland Diet - Beyoncé isn’t the only Destiny’s Child member known for her amazing bod. Kelly Rowland also uses a strict diet to staying healthy and fit. Rowland said the book, “You Are What You Eat,” inspired her to embark on the path of healthier eating. For breakfast, the singer eats cereal with berries or a bowl of porridge, for lunch she’ll have a crab, whole wheat pasta teamed with tomato sauce and for dinner she eats fish with vegetables and duck salad.
The Alicia Keys Diet - Alicia Keys says she swears off fast food thanks to the documentary Food Inc., and eats a diet full of fresh almond milk, grilled fish and spinach. The singer also implements a lot of diet tips from the book, “5-Factor Diet,” which encourages dieters to cook with only five ingredients or less coupled with a workout regimen.
