We're just days away from Soul Train Awards 2013 in Las Vegas with some good news to announce! Dionne Warwick and Keith Sweat will be recognized at this year's show for their outstanding contributions to the music industry.
As the second most-charted female vocalist of all time, Warwick will be honored with the Legend Award, which she so duly deserves. Over the span of her career, she's nabbed hits such as "Walk On By," "That's What Friends Are For," "I'll Never Fall In Love Again" and more.
Gladys Knight, Ronald Isley, Eric Benét, Ruben Studdard, Kenny Lattimore, Bobby V and Candice Glover will hit the stage for a special tribute performance to honor Warwick and her incomparable success.
Sweat will take home this year's Lifetime Achievement Award for his hand in ushering in New Jack Swing era. He will be joined on stage by Faith Evans as he performs a medley of hits that include "I Want Her," "Nobody," "Twisted" and others.
As previously announced, the house will be rocking with electrifying performances from Chaka Khan, Tamar Braxton, Jennifer Hudson, Chrisette Michelle, Doug E. Fresh and many more. This year's presenters include Janelle Monáe, Raheem DeVaughn, Larenz Tate, Boris Kodjoe, Bill Bellamy and others.
West coast rapper Kendrick Lamar leads all nominees with six nods in categories such as Best New Artist and Album of the Year for his debut effort good kid, m.A.A.d city. He is followed by Braxton, Miguel, Justin Timberlake, Robin Thicke and Chris Brown with five nominations apiece.
The 2013 Soul Train Awards hosted by Anthony Anderson will take place this Friday (Nov. 8) at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas and airs Sunday, Dec. 1 at 8 p.m. EST on Centric and BET.
