Patti LaBelle, Lee Daniels To Be Celebrated At BET Honors 2016

L.A. Reid, Mellody Hobson and Eric Holder have also been announced as honorees

BET will once again celebrate black excellence with its ninth annual BET Honors, which recognizes five individuals who have excelled in the areas of art, music, theater, technology and business.

This year's honorees include Grammy-winning singer Patti LaBelle (Musical Arts Awards), director and "Empire" co-creator Lee Daniels (Television and Film Award), former United States Attorney General Eric H. Holder, Jr. (Public Service Award), music mogul L.A. Reid (The Business of Entertainment Award) and president of Ariel Investments and current Chairwoman of the Board of Directors for Dreamworks Animation Mellody Hobson (Corporate Citizen Award).

Actor/comedian Arsenio Hall has been tapped to host the special event.

Past honorees include Aretha Franklin, Kanye West, Whitney Houston, Sean "Diddy" Combs and others.

BET Honors 2016 will be taped at the Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, Jan. 23 and will premiere Monday, Feb. 23 at 8 p.m. EST on BET and Centric.
