A source says the singer passed on 'The Wiz Live!' and is looking for more 'socially relevant roles'

Beyoncé could soon be back in action on the big screen, with a whole new set of acting skills in tow.

An insider tells Us Weekly the 34-year-old Golden Globe nominee has enrolled in several acting classes and is looking for her next big role. Beyoncé's last feature film credit (live action) was 2009's Obsessed.

"She wants to land leading roles in movies and has been taking classes in New York and L.A. for the past year. Bey’s looking for an iconic dramatic role. She wants to make a film that's socially relevant to African American rights," the source said.

It's not as if Beyoncé hasn't been given her pick of juicy roles. The insider said she is always being given scripts, most recently turning down a role in NBC's The Wiz Live!

As for now, Beyoncé is also said to be working on new music for her upcoming sixth studio album.
