Denzel Washington will get his just due at the 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards where he'll be honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award for his outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment.
Hollywood Foreign Press Association president Lorenzo Soria shared the news Monday, stating, "Washington's long and storied career is earmarked by his countless roles in front and behind the camera."
In his career spanning more than 40 years, Washington has picked up two Academy Awards (Glory, Training Day) and two Golden Globes (Glory, The Hurricane), as well as a Tony Award. He becomes the third black actor to receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award behind Sidney Poitier (1982) and Morgan Freeman (2012).
Past recipients of the award include Judy Garland, Bob Hope, Gregory Peck, Frank Sinatra, Bette Davis, Lucille Ball, Clint Eastwood, Robert De Niro, George Clooney and others.
The 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards will air Jan. 10 on NBC.
