Matt Barnes says there's a certain way for grown men to hash out their issues and his former teammate turned enemy, Derek Fisher, didn't get the memo.
Earlier this week, the Memphis Grizzlies star spoke with reporters about his altercation last month with the New York Knicks coach and his disappoint in how Fisher handled the situation. The pair got into a scuffle at the Southern California home of Barnes' former wife, Gloria Govan, but the plan was never for the cops to be called.
"We're two grown men who should have handled grown men's business," Barnes told the Los Angeles Times after the Grizzlies' shootaround Monday. "He wanted to run and tell the cops and tell the NBA, so now it's everywhere."
Barnes added that the incident was "kind of an ongoing situation," as the NBA is still investigating the matter. While details of what sparked the physical altercation remain under wraps, it's widely believed that Govan's friendship with Fisher set Barnes off.
Barnes and Fisher will meet for the first time since the incident when the Grizzlies host the Knicks on Jan. 16.
