N.W.A.'s former manager has filed a lawsuit against the producers and studio responsible for the summer blockbuster Straight Outta Compton, claiming the biopic defamed his character.
Jerry Heller filed the complaint against Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, the estate of Eazy-E, NBC Universal and others, reports TMZ. He believes the film painted him as "a sleazy manager who took advantage of Eazy-E, Dr. Dre and Ice Cube" and calls the portrayal "damaging."
In the suit, he points out several "lies" from the film, which include: withholding a $75,000 check from Ice Cube; persuading Dr. Dre and Ice Cube to sign unfavorable contracts; having lobster brunches while signing contracts; and firing Eazy-E.
Heller says producers used his book without permission for various scenes in the film and were never given permission to use his likeness.
He is seeking $35 million in compensatory damages and at least $75 million in punitive damages, as well as all profits from the film.
