In not-so-shocking news, former NFL star Kordell Stewart is suing viral video star Andrew Caldwell, who made claims earlier this month about the pair dating.
The suit states Caldwell-- best known for his testimony of being "delivert" from homosexuality-- made "false and defamatory" claims on the Internet radio show "The Shakeup" about an alleged relationship. Stewart is seeking "general and special damages for … loss of earnings, emotional distress and impairment to his reputation," reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
On the radio show, Caldwell claimed he dated a number of football players, namely Stewart. He also alleged Stewart gifted him with purses and cars.
He later issued a retraction and an apology, but the damage had already been done.
Catalyst Next LLC (which controls the Internet radio show) and "The Gospel Truth” creator and producer Jarrius Keyun Moon have also been named in the suit. Caldwell is said to be a cast member on the upcoming reality show and Stewart believes Caldwell and Moon concocted the dating rumors for publicity.
“At all times during his life, Mr. Stewart has been, and is, a heterosexual male,” the suit states. "The false and defamatory rumors that Mr. Caldwell and Defendant Moon agreed to publish are centered around Mr. Stewart having an extra-marital, sexual relationship with Mr. Caldwell."
Stewart is suing for an unspecified amount.
