Great news: Chris Rock is set to return to the Academy Awards as host of the 88th annual event.
The veteran comedian confirmed rumors of the hosting gig Wednesday on Twitter as he posted a picture of him holding an Oscar, with the caption: "Look who's back."
Rock hosted the show back in 2005 when Million Dollar Baby took home the prize for Best Picture and Jamie Foxx (Ray) and Hilary Swank (Million Dollar Baby) took top honors as Best Actor and Best Actress, respectively.
"Chris Rock is truly the MVP of the entertainment industry," said Oscar show producers David Hill and Reginald Hudlin. "Comedian, actor, writer, producer, director, documentarian — he's done it all. He's going to be a phenomenal Oscar host!"
Academy president Cheryl Boone Issacs added, "We share David and Reggie's excitement in welcoming Chris, whose comedic voice has really defined a generation. He is certain to bring his amazing array of talents to this year's show."
The 88th annual Academy Awards are scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 28 on ABC.
