Nice try, Internet trolls, but #BoycottStarWarsVII is going to have a hard time finding any success.
The hashtag campaign surfaced on Twitter Sunday night, as some fans took issue with Star Wars: The Force Awakens having lead characters who weren't white males. Some commenters went as far as to suggest the film was promoting "white genocide" with stars such as John Boyega and Lupita Nyong'o.
"#BoycottStarWarsVII because it is anti-white propaganda promoting #whitegenocide," wrote one user.
Another commented, "SJWs [Social Justice Warriors] complain about White artists 'misappropriating' culture created by blacks but then celebrate a non-White Star Wars."
Unfortunately for upset fans, the boycott might not go as planned. Ticket sales for the film are now on sale and are moving fast, despite a release that's nearly two months away.
