Soul Train Awards 2015 just got a little iller.
Singer, songwriter and overall dope chick Erykah Badu has been tapped to host the annual event, which celebrates R&B and soul's biggest legends alongside a new generation of talented artists.
Badu, a three-time Soul Train Award winner, has been a powerful force in the world of music since stepping onto the scene in 1997 with her debut album Baduizm. The Dallas native has charted hits such as "On & On," "Next Lifetime," "Bag Lady," "Didn't Cha Know?" "Tyrone," "Window Seat" and more. She most recently released a remix to Drake's single "Hotline Bling," which is set to be featured on her upcoming mixtape But U Cain't Use My Phone.
This year's event will also honor singer/producer Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds with the Legend Award and singer/songwriter Jill Scott with the first-ever Lady of Soul Award. Both artists are being recognized for their presence in the industry and their influence on the world of music-- past and present.
As always, you can expect a night of unforgettable performances and special appearances from the biggest names in entertainment. The event will also showcase "Soul Train's" influence on music and dance from the '70s to present day.
Soul Train Awards 2015 will be filmed Friday, Nov. 6 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas and will air simultaneously on Centric and BET on Sunday, Nov. 29 at 8 p.m. EST.
