Janelle Monáe, Janet Jackson, Tamar Braxton and others score nominations

The Weeknd has earned a top spot as a leading Soul Train Awards 2015 nominee alongside Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson with five nods apiece.

Nominations were announced Friday morning and the Canadian singer is up for Best R&B/Soul Male Artist and Album of the Year (Beauty Behind The Madness), as well as Video of the Year, Song of the Year and The Ashford & Simpson Songwriter's Award for his hit single "Earned It."

The song is up against some stiff competition with Mars and Ronson's "Uptown Funk," which has been nominated for Video of the Year, Song of the Year and The Ashford & Simpson Songwriter’s Award. It is also up for Best Dance Performance and Best Collaboration.

Beyoncé leads all female artists with four nominations, including Best R&B/Soul Female Artist, Best Collaboration ("Feeling Myself" with Nicki Minaj) and Best Dance Performance and Video of the Year ("7/11").

Soul Train Awards 2015 will be filmed Friday, Nov. 6 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas and will air simultaneously on Centric and BET on Sunday, Nov. 29 at 8 p.m. EST. For more information about this year's show, visit BET.com/SoulTrain.
