Academy Award-nominated actress Quvenzhané Wallis can add one more title to her résumé: author.
The 12-year-old star has inked a four-book deal with publisher Simon & Schuster to release a yet-to-be-titled series of three chapter books, as well as a picture book loosely based on Wallis' experiences.
S&S says the picture book will follow "a spunky young heroine who is very much looking forward to a night out with her mom at an awards show." The chapter books will center on a third-grader named Shai Williams, who has a flair for the dramatic.
"Reading is very important. It allows people to form a visual experience in their minds of what is going on in the story," Wallis said in a statement. "I hope all readers enjoy using their imaginations along with me and take a journey into my books."
Wallis is best known for her role as Hushpuppy in the 2012 fantasy-drama Beasts of the Southern Wild. The film scored her an Oscar nomination, making her the youngest actress to ever be nominated.
Wallis' book series is set to be released in January 2017, the fall of 2017 and the summer of 2018.
