Nick Gordon, the boyfriend of the late Bobbi Kristina Brown, could face charges in relation to the 22-year-old's death as early as this week, a source tells PEOPLE.
According to a new report, a grand jury in Georgia has convened to decide if they'll file charges against Gordon for any involvement in Bobbi Kristina's medical emergency. The only child of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown was found unconscious in a bathtub in her Atlanta-area home on Jan. 31 and died July 26 after succumbing to her injuries.
The district attorney has remained relatively quiet about the details surrounding the incident, but confirms the case remains open and under investigation.
A source says the grand jury could come to their decision by the end of the week.
The update comes just a week after it was revealed the Fulton Country Medical Examiner had obtained Bobbi Kristina's autopsy results, but announced it would not be releasing the details due to a court order. Bobby Brown later came forward with a statement of his own, saying he believes Gordon harmed Bobbi Kristina.
Gordon is currently facing a multi-million dollar civil lawsuit from Bobbi Kristina's estate, which believes he physically abused her and stole money from inheritance. The complaint also claims Gordon gave Bobbi Kristina a "toxic cocktail" that rendered her unconscious just hours before she was found in the bathtub.
Gordon and his legal team have called the lawsuit "slanderous and meritless."
