Shonda Rhimes On 117-Pound Weight Loss: 'I Want To Be Around For My Kids'

Famed showrunner says she adopted a healthier lifestyle by switching up her eating and exercise habits

With three hit shows currently on television and three daughters running around at home, Shonda Rhimes has plenty to live for.

 

That's why the famed showrunner has taken control of her body and is embracing a healthier lifestyle. Rhimes recently spoke with "Extra" about her 117-pound weight loss and the reason behind the drastic transformation.

 

THE SECRET TO SHONDA RHIMES' SUCCESS? A 'YEAR OF YES'

 

"I just decided I was gonna get it together and get healthy," she said. "I have some little kids and I want to be around for them."

 

But don't get it twisted, dropping the pounds was no easy feat. Rhimes said she had to switch up her eating and exercise habit in order to achieve her results.

"I changed everything I ate -- and I hated all of that -- and then I hate exercising and I did that, too. I hated it the whole time," Rhimes added. "[...] Once I decided it wasn't gonna be fun, like, I lowered my expectations; it got kind of easier."

 

A woman who has it all together and doesn't sacrifice her health? Yes, ma'am!
