Could Wendy Williams, the queen of celebrity gossip, be cleaning up her act to attract more A-list stars to her daytime talk show? Insiders say 'yes.'
According to a report from Page Six, "The Wendy Williams Show" producers have hired former "Chelsea Lately" booker Siobhan Schanda to bring in high priority guests. While ratings prove the show has been a top competitor against "Live! with Kelly and Michael" and "Ellen," it is still having trouble booking big names-- and Williams' subject matter could be to blame.
"Wendy was never really getting the caliber of stars like Kelly [Ripa] and Michael [Strahan]," a source told Page Six. "So they brought in Schanda. Wendy will tone down the gossip to get bigger stars. A-list celebs want that friendly, soft, People magazine thing."
Williams has a less than stellar track record with Hollywood celebrities, including Sean "Diddy" Combs, Mariah Carey, Nene Leakes and more. She can thank her "say it like you mean it" motto.
But don't expect her to change up her style just yet.
In response to the report, a rep for the show said: "We have consistently booked A-list guests . . . Jennifer Lopez, Taraji P. Henson, Susan Sarandon and more. Viewers have come to know and love Wendy's open, honest and 'say it like you mean it' attitude, which has resulted in some candid and revealing celebrity interviews that you won't see anywhere else. Celebrities recognize that the Wendy audience are trendsetters, and as our ratings continue to rise . . . we're seeing even more interest from big-name guests."
