Wendy Williams' Hot Topics got a little deeper earlier this week when the 51-year-old talk show host opened up about her son's addiction to synthetic marijuana and the steps she took to get him clean.
Williams said the issue took place over the summer while she was in constant travel mode, jetting from city to city while on her comedy tour. With mom out on the road, she says Kevin Hunter Jr. picked up a dangerous smoking habit.
"So the most important thing that happened this summer, which was a life-changing thing for the Hunter family, is our son was made exposed to synthetic marijuana and he was exposed by a loved one who he looked up to," Williams explained.
She said she and her husband didn't suspect a thing because synthetic marijuana doesn't have the look or smell of the traditional variety.
"It's one of those pens where you don’t see the smoke, and you don't smell anything," she said. "[...] I was duped and our kid had been smoking this mess and he got turned out to the point where he went off the rail for a moment."
It was then that Williams said she and her husband decided to take Kevin Jr. out of the country for holistic treatment. She says he is now "on the good side of good," but is warning others of the dangers of synthetic marijuana, which includes hallucination, paranoia, brain damage and even death.
