Be careful what you hashtag, Black Twitter is watching.
Nia Long found herself in hot water last week while lending her support to The Innocence Project, an organization dedicated to exonerating wrongfully convicted individuals through DNA testing and reforming the criminal justice system. The actress took to Instagram to raise awareness of the pressing issue but, unfortunately, became the target of online criticism.
"Now is the time for criminal justice! Join me in helping @innocence fight wrongful convictions. #AllLivesMatter #reform," she captioned a photo.
Many felt as though Long's proclamation was a slight to the #BlackLivesMatter movement, which aims to shine a light on police brutality against African-Americans. Others applauded the actress for speaking her mind on prison reform.
