Naomi Campbell's past transgressions have come back to haunt her, as she's been convicted of a 2009 assault.
On Friday, a Sicilian court found the 45-year-old supermodel guilty of assault and handed down a six-month suspended prison sentence. Campbell's lawyer says he will fight to appeal the ruling, according to PEOPLE.
The incident occurred in August 2009 when Campbell grew upset over a photographer taking pictures of her and her then-boyfriend, Russian billionaire Vladimir Doronin.
Campbell allegedly hit the photographer with her purse, scratching one of his eyes.
The photographer eventually withdrew the charges after he and Campbell reached an agreement, but an Italian prosecutor ordered to proceed with the trial, citing public interest.
