Say goodbye to super long weaves, blunt bobs and tamed short styles. This season is about letting loose and having some fun with our hair. Read on for six sexy hairstyles we can't wait to see Black women wearing this fall.
The Longer Bob
Low-fuss and easier to maintain, the longer bob adds a bit of sultriness to a woman's face. It's like almost having long hair, but not really. The longer bob gives a modern and softer approach to a daring hairstyle that not all women are usually ready for. For celeb inspiration, check out Kerry Washington's sombre coated mid-length bob.
The Super Chopped Pixie Cut
This season, having messy, short hair is just as cool as having messy long hair. For the women who keep it cute and cut low, having your stylist play around with the razor should be exciting. Go really choppy, sort of all over the place with your pixie cut.
The Center Part
There's a saying that every woman knows her best side (or at least should). And when it comes to hair and parts, most women will make sure their best side is highlighted. But, this season, your entire face will be your "best side." We want to see those eyes, those cheekbones and that gorgeous profile. It doesn't matter if you're afraid to show off that little bit of forehead you've been insecure about, or if you've never tried a bold center part. This season, women all over just don't care: they're giving us face, and lots of it.
Retro Remixed Hair
Beyoncé made it clear that this would be an inspiration for her latest look. And even though many haven't approved, we have to give her credit for being right on trend. Retro-inspired volume and bangs graced the runway last season, and we're here for it. For a simple rendition: straighten your hair, make a side part, brush the front of your hair to one side and add a jeweled bobby pin to hold it over. Super easy, super cute.
We're not dismissing weave for the season, but we will say this: adding some fun and flair to your extensions is everything right now. Go big and bold and nix the super laid, straight additions.
The Low Bun
The top knot took over spring and summer, and rightfully so, but this season is all about the low bun. Be careful not to pull your hair too tight and make sure you get those edges slick. Sweep on a dust of gold or bronze shadow, two coats of mascara and a nude lip for a timeless look.
