Many fans probably took notice of Tamar Braxton’s fading harline on a recent episode of her reality show. Memes galore gave way on social media of the singer’s obvious hair loss.
In true Tamar fashion, the Grammy-nominated artist addressed the criticisms head on in an Instagram post with a picture of her at the 2013 BET Awards, just weeks before giving birth. In the photo, her hairline looks healthy.
“When u HAVE your baby ...(my son) your hair falls out!!” the singer wrote.
“Thanks to @simplicityhairoil for my hairline coming back! But if it didn't work I would BUY me some. Glad you all get to see the changes while #bfv & #T&V on T.V.,” she continued.
While losing your hair for the whole world to see probably has its hang-ups, Braxton’s post-pregnancy hair dilemma is actually something many moms experience.
Hair loss can typically occur months after giving birth, and it’s completely normal. The cause is a result of falling estrogen levels, according to the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD).
Thankfully, the hair loss is usually temporary and does not require actions to remedy. Most women’s hair return to its normal state by their child’s first birthday, sometimes even earlier.
In the meantime, experts suggests that women use volumizing shampoo that has protein to make the hair more full, as well trying new hairstyles to hide the hair loss.
See, Tamar, you’re not alone.
