Celebrity fashion designer and stylist Rachel Zoe once said, "Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak." That’s true, for the most part. But what if you don’t really know the statement that you’re trying to tell the world? What if you essentially don’t have a personal style? We’ve got some ideas on how to help you discover it.
Think about what you’re attracted to in regard to colors
Sounds simple, but this can be your first step. Just think about what colors you’re drawn to. Bright, muted, bold, patterns? The options are endless.
Figure out the feature of your body you’d like to highlight
Do you like your hips? Your arms? Or, your legs? This can surely help determine what your signature style will be.
Pick out your favorite fashion piece that you own
We all have that one item we wear over and over again. What does that represent? Is it an ethereal, floral dress? Maybe your signature style is a bit bohemian-esque. Is it a leather moto-jacket? Maybe you're a little rock and roll.
Make a quick list of your favorite stores, and then figure out why you like them
It doesn’t have to be an assignment. Pull out your phone, and make a list of the stores you love to window shop at. Then, figure out why you like those particular stores or brands. If you’re obsessed with TopShop, you may love the modern twist on everyday urban edge. If it's Elie Tahari or Theory, you must love clean lines and well tailored suits.
