3 Dresses Every Woman Should Have in Her Closet

In every woman’s wardrobe, no matter where she lives or where she is from, there are certain basic necessities we believe she should have. From the best fitting black blazer, to a strong, sturdy pair of black pumps, there are essentials we all should invest in.

Particularly for women, certain dresses are essential as well. While all women may not like to wear there, we feel it is imperative to have the below 3 dresses in your wardrobe, no matter what.

The LBD (Little Black Dress)

Yes, we know you’ve heard of this time and time again. But, the LBD is probably the first dress you should purchase from this list, if you don’t already have one. You’ll wear this dress everywhere. From dates, to funerals, to party events, to first dates and so on. You’ll get good usage out of the LBD. The trick is to find the best style and style it according to said event. You also want to purchase one for summer and spring, and one for fall and winter. The best bet is to go with a shape like this Zara fitted dress. It’s not too tight, but fits the shape of your body well and has slight sex appeal with a back slit. Another option is a looser fitting, cinched waist dress that still shows off your shape, but also leaves a bit of breathing room.

The Wrap Dress

You can thank Diane Von Furstenberg for the infamous wrap dress. Her keen eye for creating a dress that not only minimized the waistline, creating an hourglass figure, but also covered and clinged to the body at the same time was just what women didn’t know they needed. The wrap dress is the only dress that shows just enough of your shape to feel sexy, but little enough to still feel work appropriate. It’s feminine, classy and will never go out of style. You don’t have to pay DVF prices, either. Stores like Target, Kohl’s and even ASOS provide a plethora of styles that won’t break your wallet.

The Long Lasting Sundress

While most summer garments are meant to only last for summer, we think there is something special about finding that perfect summer dress to last you a few years. And, they’re not hard to find. You want to look at the material, and make sure its durable. This may take a bit of investment. Some women may want to invest in a well-made maxi dress, while others may want to find a perfect A-line number. The point is to find a dress that fits you well and keeps you cool.

The Interview Dress

The interview dress can be a rough one. It should be well fitted, but not body hugging. The length should come below the knees and you should go with a mid-length or cap-sleeve. Never wear a tank or spaghetti strap dress to an interview, and always stay on the safer side with colors like black, navy and grey. Keep the neckline high. If you want to go a bit bolder, opt for a dress with small prints or muted purples, greens and blues. If you want to stay away from dresses that are form fitting around your lower area, pick up a nice A-line dress that fits well at the top and flares slightly at the bottom. Just be sure to keep the length below the knees.

The Social Event Dress

From weddings to a chic fundraising event, your social event dress is the one you pull out when you want to be fancy and classy. It’s a bit more “mature” than your night on the town dress, but edgy enough to turn heads. You want to make sure this dress is one you can wear to multiple functions, so you’re not rushing to find that last minute ensemble for your cousin’s wedding you totally forgot about. If you’re still trying to figure out what kind of dress we mean, check out this one and this one. We’re sure you’ll get the picture then.

The Night Out on the Town Dress

This dress should fit you perfectly. You should always feel sexy when you put it on. While a bold color is preferred, we just want you to make sure that your go-to party dress makes you feel like you’re the most beautiful woman in the club (or lounge or cocktail party).
