Just when you’d picked a best dressed for the night at the 56th annual Grammy Awards, Beyoncé changes into a white gown after her performance of “Drunk in Love” and shut it down.
While there were many hits and far fewer misses, this year’s red carpet was slightly boring. The outrageousness that used to give the red carpet some spunk was missing. There was no Nicki Minaj dressed as a life size cartoon character, no J. Lo sheer green dress and no Toni Braxton slits baring all. Everyone played it safe, which works but makes fashion a bit dull. That said, classic, chic, Hollywood glam was in the building last night. Here’s what your faves wore.
Ciara’s gold embroidered Emilio Pucci gown was fly. With a baby bump as an accessory, not much more was needed to pull off this look. The R&B songstress paired it with only her gorgeous engagement ring and a natural looking face.
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend make a good looking couple. Teigen rocked a gorgeous gold strapless Johanna Johnson gown paired with a gold open toe stiletto. Legend complemented his wife well in a navy Gucci Made to Order one button shawl lapel Marseille tuxedo. He donned a white dress shirt, a silk navy bowtie and black patent leather shoes.
Who says you can’t wear white after Labor Day? In fashion there are no rules! Rocsi Diaz stood out in a winter white Cushnie Et Ochs dress paired with black Giuseppe Zanotti pumps and a Sophie Hulme clutch. Love the winter white, but we’ve seen her do better. Something about the dress was ill fitting.
Tamar Braxton kept it simple with a red strapless Michael Costello gown. She rocked a new bob cut with a side swoop.
Chrisette Michele was one of the first exciting looks of the night with her men’s wear inspired look. She wore an Etro printed pant and jacket. She opted for a black laced bra underneath the jacket. The white nails paired with the white pumps is serving something fierce. Chrisette demanded your attention and gave folks something to look at.
Fantasia wore a long black see through number that was not her best look. It’s unfortunate because the night before she slayed in a pink gown for Clive Davis’ party.
Alicia Keys has curves for days. She wore a low-cut purple Armani Prive dress that hugged her curves in all the right places.
Last but certainly not least, King Bey. Beyoncé didn’t hit the red carpet as she was prepping for her lackluster opening performance with hubby Jay Z. But once she changed into her gown she was certainly a sight to see. The 17-time Grammy award winner slayed in a custom white Michael Costello gown. Although see-through the pattern hid everything it needed to. She completed the look with a wavy bob and a plum lip.
Who do you think was the best dressed of the night?
