It's hard separating a rapper from his (or her) kicks and that's why two of hip-hop's biggest acts have inked deals with a pair of athletic wear titans.
Kanye West let the cat out of the bag during a recent interview with Hot 97's Angie Martinez and Adidas has now confirmed its partnership with the rapper.
"For 2014, we welcome to the adidas family one of the most influential cultural icons of this generation, Kanye West," Adidas said in a statement. "Well known for breaking boundaries across music, film and design and partnering with our history in street wear culture and leading innovations in sport, we look forward to creating a new chapter. Details to follow."
The news comes just days after West revealed he parted ways with Nike because of their refusal to offer him royalties.
On the other side of the shoe, Drake announced his deal with Jordan Brand on Tuesday at a show in Oregon, where Nike is headquartered.
"Growing up I’m sure we all idolized this guy. He goes by the name of Michael Jordan," he told a screaming crowd. "So today I came to Portland, and I officially became inducted into the Team Jordan family."
The rapper Instagrammed two creations from his new partnership-- the Jordan 10 and 12 OVO Stingrays. It remains to be seen what else Drake has up his sleeve.
Great job, fellas!
