It was a celebration of punk, as fashionistas, socialites, and some of entertainment's biggest names attended the Metropolitan Museum's Costume Institute benefit gala last night in New York City.
The event, which kicked off the institute's newest exhibit, "Punk: Chaos to Couture," and was a veritable fashion show of sorts, as guests showcased their interpretations of this year's theme.
But while some ensembles were indicative of the theme (Eve, Jourdan Dunn, Chanel Iman, Miguel, Nicole Richie, and Alicia Keys), other stars didn't follow suit: Beyonce opted for a Givenchy bustier top, baroque printed skirt with full train, paired with matching printed boots; sis Solange went 70's retro, Kim Kardashian went for a floral gown, and Tyson Beckford went rocked a pink camouflage tuxedo jacket.
Other notables in attendance included Kerry Washington, Amar'e Stoudemire, and wife, Alexis Stoudmire; Madonna, La La Anthony, Jennifer Lopez, Nicki Minaj, and fashion designer, Michael Kors.
"PUNK: From Chaos to Couture" will chronicle the punk movement from its inception in the 1970s to the present, showcasing 100 "original punk garments and recent, directional fashion [that] illustrate how haute couture and ready-to-wear borrow punk's visual symbols."
The exhibition runs from May 9-Aug. 14
