Ladies, if your man is not out hunting buffalo, there is no need for you to be trapped in a tent. With so many shopping destinations that specialize in fashionable wares for plus size women readily available, there is no rhyme or reason why you shouldnt be in style and on the cutting edge.
With Spring officially here, you're probably wanting to freshen up your wardrobe. Thankfully, this season is filled with amazing trends that are not exclusive to the model/skinny girl set. Lost in translation? Check out our style tips:
1. Color Blocking
Color blocking (pictured above) is all about choosing complementary colors that work for your skin tone. Balance out the colors with neutralizing nude pumps which create a strong foundation for wearing color block combinations. Not to mention it elongates you visually.
When picking the right floral pattern, you must make sure it is scaled to your body. If you wear a size 18, you shouldn't be wearing a tiny floral print nor do you need to be in a print where the floral is too big.
Models were sent down the runway in leather shirts, shorts, and dresses. And this season you can be too. The easiest way to translate this trend is with a cute cropped jacket or t-shirt (yes a light-weight leather t-shirt).
4. Black & White
Shown on the Spring/Summer 2013 runways of Balenciaga, Celine and Marc Jacobs, the classic pairing of black and white is updated with fresh bold stripes and checker patterns. To avoid looking like a walking picnic able or adding unnecessary bulk to your frame, execute this trend gingerly. Pair a body-con black and white striped skirt with a black flowing top. If you're bigger in your lower body, go for black on the bottom and vertical stripes on the top.
5. Sheer Materials
Chiffon, organza, and mousseline. All sheer fabrics that can instantly elevate an ensemble---if worn correctly. If you're tackling a few problem areas, the one thing you don't want to do is show them off---cellulite, stomach etc. So be strategic when choosing to wear it. Our suggestion?
