Miss America Nana Meriwether helped kick off International Women's Day at a special ethical shopping event hosted by DKNY at the brand's New York City flagship show.

The event was co-hosted by SAME SKY, a fair-trade initiative that offers employment to HIV+ women in Africa. The women in the program "earn 15 to 20 times the average Sub Saharan wage to hand-crochet beautiful glass bead jewelry."

Meriwether was joined by Miss Teen USA, Logan West; psychosexual therapist, Dr. Ruth Westheimer, and SAME SKY founder, Francine LeFrak.

Celebrated annually, International Women's Day [March 8th] will be celebrated with thousands of events held throughout the world that will move to inspire women and celebrate their achievements.
