Keep it simple, just like your mama

Keep it simple...

This is probably how most of our mother’s approach beauty. A clean face, basic makeup (lipstick, eyeliner, powder), and maybe a good toner.

If you're trying to get your skin back on track just in time for Summer, take a page from mom's book of simplicity.

A Few Ways to Get Over Your Summer Body Insecurities

Find your skincare routine and stick to it-forever

Now, here is the thing: our skin changes as we age. Our hormones affect us. Environmental toxins, the food we eat, and everything else. Your best bet is to find the products and skincare routine that works to you and stick with it.

Stop acting like you have to spend a lot of money

You don’t have to break the bank. Granted, there are some mass products that are harsh and aren’t suited for our skin types. But, the truth is that if St. Ive’s face wash works on your skin, it works on your skin.

Get your rest, for real

Most of our mothers have bedtimes. They go to bed at a specific time and rise at one too. While our generation is stuck on scrolling social media timelines before our sleep ensues, our mothers usually go straight to bed, and get solid rest. Take a hint and start doing the same. Your skin will thank you.

Usually, their diet is real

We can’t speak for everyone from our mothers' generation. Yet, its safe to subscribe to the notion that our parents probably didn't grow up eating what we eat nowadays. Mostly because they grew up eating real ass food, and not so much processed food. What you put in your body can be easily reflected in the appearance of your skin. Choose wisely.

Skip out on all the trends

Our mothers probably don’t even think twice about using the latest new skincare tool, or product. They know what works and they stick with it. Testing new, advanced products is fine. But, it is key to remember that the more products you put on your face, the higher the chance of your skin having a bad reaction. Once you’ve found what you like, remain loyal and let your skin flourish.
