It doesn’t matter if you’re a stan for Beyonce or not. You can’t deny that her “Formation” video and Super Bowl performance didn’t leave Black women feeling sexy as hell. Most of us woke up ready to “slay”, and rightfully so. Take that adrenaline that you’re probably still high off of and make the decision to own your beauty like Beyonce did.
Head to a mirror, and stare in awe
Look at your body, your curves, your skin and just gaze. Like, stand there and let yourself get lost in your beauty. Don’t say anything negative. Don’t even think about saying anything negative. Just fall in love with the way you look, flaws and all. No pun intended.
Accept how you’re wearing your hair
From Afros to weaves to braids, Beyonce showed everyone in the “Formation” video how dynamic and diverse Black women could wear their hair. And we shouldn’t be ashamed of this. Regardless of the style you choose, own that ‘ish. There’s not #teamnatural or #teamweave. It’s just #teamblackhair.
Get real comfortable in your personal style, and slay
This one is about outer appearance. Own your fashion sense and how you like to present yourself to the world. Beyonce has made it clear, time and time again, that she loves to show her thick legs and hips in her signature leotards, and has never apologized for it. That’s her (stage) style. Now, own yours. Who cares if you like to dress sexy? Or if your signature style is boyfriend jeans and oxfords? Do…you…boo. Just like Beyonce.
